Accredited Divorce and Family Mediator and Facilitator with FAMAC and NABFAM 

Dr. Ilze van der Merwe has been a practitioner for more than 10 years. She has been in academia for more than 12 years, employed as Senior lecturer at RAU in the Department of Psychology. She has served on various committees on both Departmental (for Research) and Senate (for Ethics) level. She has delivered papers on international and national level and has been invited on two separate occasions to read a paper at the University of Oxford, UK.
Since 2006 she resides in Cape Town, and has since been in full-time private practice. Her current fields of specialization are Couple Counseling, Post-Divorce Counseling, Care and Contact Assessments and Socio-Emotional Development of children and adolescents, treatment of Depression and Anxiety. She has extensive experience in Medico-Legal work (RAF and Forensic work) and is continuously developing her expertise in the field Mediation and Facilitation. She also completed a few workshops in the Maintenance Act and Maintenance in Mediation. In 2013 she completed a short course in Family Law at the Nort West University, Potchefstroom with Distinction.
As a result of her experience and knowledge base she can contain and deal with various challenging situations. Her experience in dealing with children and parents provides the background to effectively and professionally deal with disputes within Mediation and Facilitation and facilitate a positive, amicable outcome. She is an accredited Mediator and Facilitator of FAMAC and serves on the panel of Mediators for Equillore.  she is a member of the South African Medico-Legal Society and member of the FAMAC sub-committee.

Bill, holds a B. Compt. Degree from UNISA, and completed the Senior Management Program at Stellenbosch Business School.  He has been involved with the financial sector of the economy for many years. His knowledge of financial markets resulted in his appointment as a senior portfolio manager at Southern Life, ABSA and African Life Asset Management companies. In this capacity at Southern Life, he chaired the board of Southern Life Equipment Finance, a joint venture with First National Bank.

As a fund manager, Bill was also responsible for investing in the commercial property market as well as having subsequent exposure to the sectional title and residential property markets.  His experience as Fund Manager and consulting in establishing various financial companies grounds him in various aspects of finance and company acts.  He has also qualified and practised as Debt Counsellor. In this field Bill became more aware of the importance of negotiations and dispute resolution.

He completed the Commercial Mediation course with Conflict Dynamics and the Africa Centre for Dispute Resolution at the University of Stellenbosch Business School.  He holds a CEDR (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution) accreditation (an international accreditation). Bill is part of the panel of Commercial Mediators for Equillore.

He brings his strong business, financial and commercial skills to mediation and applies this within his philosophy of:
